By Christopher Burns, Owner, C&G Holsters. We design and build Kydex holsters and carry gear in the USA, at our shop outside Pittsburgh, with a team of veterans and law enforcement. Last updated: October 25, 2026.
Short answer: We mold separate Kydex holsters for the Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy (4.25" and 5"), the Staccato P, C2 and XC, and classic 1911s by barrel length (3.5", 4.25"/Wilson EDC-X9 and 5", railed and non-railed). Our light-bearing IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA and OWB TACTICAL holsters are built for the TLR-1/HL, TLR-7/A/X, TLR-8/A/G and X300U/T on the Prodigy, Staccato and railed 1911 frames. Match your exact gun, your light if you run one, and how you carry, then pick Quickship or Custom.
The 1911 and the 2011 look alike from across the range, but a Kydex holster is molded to the gun, and small differences in slide length, frame and dust cover change what fits. This page is our straight answer, shooter to shooter, on which C&G holster goes with which gun. You can also shop the 1911 collection, the Springfield Prodigy 4.25" collection, the Springfield Prodigy 5" collection, the 2011 Staccato collection and the 1911 4.25" railed collection.
Key Takeaways
- Every standard (non-light) holster here is model-specific. A Staccato P holster is not a Staccato C2 holster, and a Prodigy 4.25" holster is not a Prodigy 5" holster.
- Classic 1911 holsters are listed by barrel length and by railed or non-railed frame. Order the one that matches your gun.
- Light-bearing holsters are built around the gun and the light together. We offer them for the Prodigy, the 2011 Staccato and railed 1911s with the TLR-1/HL, TLR-7/A/X, TLR-8/A/G and X300U/T.
- TRINITY is offered for the Staccato P, C2 and XC.
- Quickship ships within 5 business days. Custom ships within 15.

1911 vs 2011: What Changes for Holster Fit?
A 2011 is a double-stack design built on the 1911 idea, and the grip is where most of the difference lives. For a holster, though, what matters most is the slide, the frame up front, the trigger guard and anything hanging off the dust cover. That is why we treat each model as its own mold. The Staccato guns, the Prodigy and the classic single-stack 1911s each get their own holster, and we do not tell anyone to swap one for another.
If you own both a 1911 and a 2011, plan on two holsters. It is the only way to get the retention and trigger guard coverage right on each gun.
Springfield Prodigy 4.25" vs 5": Which Holster Do You Need?
The Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy comes in a 4.25" and a 5" version, and we mold IWB COVERT/ALPHA and OWB COVERT holsters for each length. Order the length that matches your slide. For most people carrying a Prodigy concealed every day, the 4.25" in our IWB COVERT/ALPHA is where we would start. The 5" works concealed too, with a good gun belt and a cover garment that handles the longer slide.
Our light-bearing Prodigy holsters are listed as one Prodigy fit per light, in IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA and OWB TACTICAL. Check the light on your gun against the product title before you order.
Staccato P, C2 and XC: Do They Share a Holster?
No. We build separate IWB COVERT/ALPHA, OWB COVERT and TRINITY holsters for the Staccato P, the Staccato C2 and the Staccato XC. The C2 is the more compact carry gun of the three, the P is the duty-size gun a lot of agencies and civilians carry, and the XC has a compensator, which changes the front of the gun and the holster that has to cover it. Order the model on your slide.
For light-bearing setups, our 2011 Staccato IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA and OWB TACTICAL holsters are listed by light: TLR-1/HL, TLR-7/A/X, TLR-8/A/G and X300U/T. If you run a red dot or taller sights, note it on a Custom order and ask us if you are unsure. If your Staccato is a competition gun, see our factory comp pistol holster guide.
Railed vs Non-Railed 1911s: Why It Matters
A railed 1911 has an accessory rail on the dust cover. A non-railed 1911 does not. That changes the shape of the front of the frame, so we list them separately. Our non-railed 1911 holsters come in 3.5", 4.25" (also listed for the Wilson EDC-X9) and 5" lengths. Our 5" railed 1911 holsters come in OWB COVERT (Quickship and Custom) and IWB COVERT (Custom).
If you are not sure which frame you have, look at the area under the slide, ahead of the trigger guard. If there are slots for a light, you have a railed gun.
What Are the Best light-bearing 1911 and 2011 Holsters?
If your gun wears a weapon light, the holster has to be molded around the gun and the light together. A standard holster will not close on a light. Here is what we build:
| Gun | Light | IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA | OWB TACTICAL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Springfield Prodigy | TLR-1/HL | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| Springfield Prodigy | TLR-7/A/X | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| Springfield Prodigy | TLR-8/A/G | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| Springfield Prodigy | X300U/T | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 2011 Staccato | TLR-1/HL | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 2011 Staccato | TLR-7/A/X | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 2011 Staccato | TLR-8/A/G | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 2011 Staccato | X300U/T | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 1911 | TLR-1/HL | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 1911 | TLR-7/A/X | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 1911 | TLR-8/A/G | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| 1911 | X300U/T | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
Our take: the TLR-7/A/X and TLR-8/A/G are the easier lights to carry concealed. The TLR-1/HL and X300U/T are bigger and brighter, and they are a natural fit for OWB TACTICAL on the range, on duty or for home defense. Make sure the light model on your gun matches the product title exactly. For more on carrying a full-size gun with a light, read our guide to carrying a full-size pistol with a weapon light.
IWB COVERT/ALPHA vs OWB COVERT vs TRINITY: How Should You Carry It?
- IWB COVERT/ALPHA: our everyday inside-the-waistband holster for strong-side or AIWB carry. IWB COVERT is the slim, simple setup. IWB ALPHA adds concealment features that help tuck the grip.
- OWB COVERT: rides close to the body outside the waistband, for open carry or under a jacket.
- TRINITY: our Kydex holster system for range, duty and field use, offered here for the Staccato P, C2 and XC.
For a 1911 or 2011, a stiff gun belt matters as much as the holster. These are heavier guns, and a belt that sags will make any holster feel worse.
QUICKSHIP vs CUSTOM: Which 1911 or 2011 Holster Should You Order?
- Quickship ships within 5 business days. It is the fastest way to get a proven holster on your belt.
- Custom ships within 15 business days. You choose colors and options.
If you need to start carrying now, go Quickship. If you want it set up your way, go Custom.
