Walther PDP Holster Guide: Matching 3.5", 4", 4.5" & 5" Models
By: Christopher J. Burns
Barrel Length Determines Fit
The Walther PDP is produced in several barrel lengths and frame variants. These are not interchangeable for holster purposes. A mold built for one length will not produce consistent retention or draw on another because the muzzle geometry and overall length change.
C&G Holsters uses dedicated CNC-machined molds held to 0.003" tolerance for specific PDP configurations. Each holster is fit-tested with the corresponding firearm setup before it leaves the shop.
Length Differences That Affect Holster Selection
- 3.5" — Primarily found on the F-Series. Shortest overall length and the most compact option for concealment.
- 4" — Common everyday-carry length. Balances capacity and size on both polymer and F-Series frames.
- 4.5" — Noticeably longer than the 4". Changes how the gun sits under a cover garment and how it rides on an OWB platform.
- 5" — Longest standard length. Better suited to range or open-carry use than deep concealment.
Because the differences occur at the muzzle, a holster molded for a 4" PDP will not properly support a 4.5" or 5" the same way. Most polymer-frame PDP holsters also do not fit Steel Frame models. Confirm the exact variant on the product page.
Matching Carry Style to Length
3.5" and 4" Models
These lengths work with the IWB COVERT and ALPHA series. The ALPHA configuration adds 1.75" CNG spring-steel clips and a Dark Wing, which improves belt stability and reduces grip rotation. For appendix carry with a spare magazine, the MOD1 sidecar is available on the 4" platform.
4.5" and 5" Models
The additional length is more manageable outside the waistband. The OWB COVERT and TRINITY systems provide consistent retention without the concealment trade-offs that appear with longer slides inside the waistband.
Weapon Light Configurations
A mounted TLR-1, TLR-7, or X300 changes the external dimensions. These require a dedicated TACTICAL mold. A light-bearing holster will not retain a bare PDP, and a standard holster will not retain a light-equipped one. Match the exact light model listed on the product page. Additional detail is available in the Weapon Light Holster Fit Chart.
Practical Selection Notes
- 3.5" or 4" for daily concealment typically pairs with IWB COVERT/ALPHA.
- Appendix carry with a spare magazine on a 4" uses the MOD1.
- 4.5" or 5" for range or open carry typically pairs with OWB COVERT or TRINITY.
- Any length with a weapon light requires the matching TACTICAL shell.
Quickship holsters in standard black are available with a 5-business-day lead time. Quickship options. Custom configurations have a 15-business-day lead time. Custom options.
All holsters are made in the United States and covered by a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. IWB setups perform best with a rigid gun belt.
