Springfield Echelon PRO Comp Holster Guide: Which C&G Fits?

Springfield Just Dropped the Echelon PRO Comp — Do You Need a New Holster?

By: Christopher J. Burns

Springfield Armory officially announced the Echelon PRO Comp line on October 13, 2026, rolling out three new variants: the 4.0C, 4.0FC, and 4.5F, all priced at $899 MSRP.

The first question every Echelon owner and prospective buyer is asking: do I need a new holster?

Short answer: no. All three PRO Comp models fit C&G Holsters molded for the standard Echelon 4.0C and 4.5F. No new holster purchase required for most carriers.

The reason is straightforward. The PRO Comp retains the same serialized Central Operating Group (COG) and the same critical external fit dimensions as the standard Echelon platform. The compensator is integral to the slide, not a bolt-on muzzle device, so the holster-fit geometry stays consistent.

This guide covers the full breakdown: model specs, holster compatibility by variant, why open-bottom design matters for compensated pistols, magwell carry considerations, and light-bearing options.

Echelon PRO Comp Models at a Glance

Here are the three PRO Comp variants side by side, based on specs confirmed by The Firearm Blog and Inside Safariland:

  • 4.0C Comp: 4" barrel, 7.4" overall length, 5" height, 23 oz, compact grip module, 18+1 capacity
  • 4.0FC Comp: 4" barrel, 7.4" overall length, 6.5" height, 24 oz, medium/full-size grip module, 20+1 capacity. This is the hybrid: compact slide paired with a full-size grip.
  • 4.5F Comp: 4.5" barrel, 8" overall length, 6.5" height, 25 oz, medium grip module, 20+1 capacity

All three share a 1.2" grip width, the primary holster-fit dimension, and the same hammer-forged Melonite barrel with a 1:10 twist rate.

Key upgrades over the standard Echelon Comp include an integrally compensated billet slide finished in Springfield Grey Cerakote, LightForged Badlands laser-etched grip texture, a removable machined-steel flared magwell, a stainless steel guide rod, a tritium front sight with orange luminescent ring, and three extended magazines in the box.

The critical detail for holster fit: the integral compensator is machined directly into the slide, not added as a muzzle-mounted device. This is why existing holster molds remain compatible.

The Variable Interface System (VIS) supports direct mounting of 30+ optic footprints without adapter plates, making an optics-cut holster a practical necessity for most PRO Comp buyers.

At $899 MSRP across all variants, the PRO Comp carries a $115 premium over the standard Echelon Comp at $784, according to USA Gun Shop. That premium buys the Badlands grip, steel magwell, stainless guide rod, tritium sights, and a third magazine.

Which C&G Holsters Fit the Echelon PRO Comp?

Because the PRO Comp shares the same COG and external holster-fit geometry as the standard Echelon, our existing Echelon molds cover all three PRO variants without modification.

Here is the compatibility breakdown:

  • 4.0C PRO Comp and 4.0FC PRO Comp both use the Echelon 4.0C holster SKUs
  • 4.5F PRO Comp uses the Echelon 4.5F holster SKUs

One dimensional variable is worth noting. The 4-inch PRO models measure 7.4" overall, compared to 7.25" on the standard 4.0C Comp, a difference of 0.15". Our open-bottom design accommodates this without fitment issues. The muzzle simply extends slightly further through the open bottom of the holster.

Shooting News Weekly confirmed this compatibility in practice: a reviewer ran the PRO C in their standard carry setup without modification. That is real-world validation, not just dimensional theory.

Our GEN6 Springfield Armory Echelon collection is the destination for all compatible holsters. It covers IWB COVERT/ALPHA, OWB COVERT, MOD1 Appendix Sidecar (both Quickship and Custom), the TRINITY Belt-Mounted System, and light-bearing options for the TLR-1 and TLR-7 in both IWB and OWB configurations. Every holster is CNC-machined from custom molds and fit-tested before shipping.

A note on the 4.0FC hybrid: this compact-slide, full-size-grip configuration is absent from virtually every competitor holster guide right now. The answer is straightforward. Because holster fit is determined by the slide and barrel profile, the 4.0FC uses the 4.0C holster family. The longer grip rides below the holster body and does not affect retention or fitment.

There is a platform investment angle worth noting here. The Echelon COG transfers between grip modules. A holster purchased for the standard Echelon 4.0C or 4.5F protects your investment even through a PRO Comp upgrade, because the slide-to-holster interface does not change.

Why Open-Bottom Design Is Non-Negotiable for Compensated Pistols

An open-bottom (open-muzzle) holster is the single most critical feature for carrying any compensated pistol. A closed-muzzle holster will physically prevent the gun from seating correctly, as Warriorland has documented in their compensator carry guide. If the muzzle cannot clear the bottom of the holster, the gun will not lock into retention. It is that simple.

The Echelon PRO Comp's integral compensator differs fundamentally from aftermarket muzzle-mounted comps. Because it is machined into the billet slide itself, the overall barrel length and slide profile stay nearly identical to the standard Comp models. The Armory Life confirmed this in their first-look coverage.

This distinction matters for your wallet. Aftermarket comp owners often need entirely new holster molds because a bolt-on compensator changes the muzzle profile and overall length significantly. PRO Comp buyers using our existing Echelon holsters avoid that cost entirely.

All C&G Echelon holsters are built open-bottom by design. No modification needed, no special order required. The PRO Comp's muzzle profile seats correctly in the same holster you would use for the standard Echelon Comp.

One more consideration: accessory stacking. With the VIS supporting 30+ optics and the PRO Comp being light-bearing capable, our optics-cut and light-bearing holster options (TLR-1 and TLR-7) allow you to run an optic, a weapon-mounted light, and the integral compensator simultaneously in a single holster. That is the full fighting package in one rig.

The Magwell Carry Dilemma: On or Off?

The PRO Comp ships with a removable machined-steel flared magwell. It is a premium feature for competition and range use, but it creates a real carry consideration that most holster guides have not yet addressed for this specific model.

Here are the numbers. With the magwell installed, the 4.0C PRO Comp grip height measures 5 inches. The standard Echelon 4.0C Comp with a flush magazine measures 5.125 inches. That is a slight dimensional difference at the grip base, but it can affect how the gun seats in a tightly fitted Kydex holster.

For IWB and AIWB carry, removing the magwell is generally the right call. It reduces grip height, improves concealability under a cover garment, and eliminates potential holster seating interference at the base.

For OWB carry, competition, or duty use, the magwell can typically remain installed. Our OWB COVERT and TRINITY systems accommodate the grip base geometry without issue.

Practical guidance: if the gun does not seat fully or the retention feels off, removing the magwell is the first troubleshooting step before assuming a holster fit issue. Nine times out of ten, that solves it.

Our fit-testing process accounts for these dimensional variables across the Echelon platform. Every holster is tested on the actual firearm before it ships, so retention and draw are dialed in for the slide and trigger guard profile where it counts most.

Built by Shooters, Fit-Tested for Carriers Like You

C&G Holsters was founded by a retired Law Enforcement Officer and Master Firearms Instructor who built the first holsters in his garage. This Echelon PRO Comp guide reflects that same hands-on, mission-driven approach. We do not write about holster fit from spec sheets alone. We test it.

Our team includes U.S. Military Veterans, active Law Enforcement Officers, and competitive shooters. These are people who carry daily and understand what is at stake when a holster does not fit right. A fraction of an inch matters when you are drawing under stress.

Every C&G holster is CNC-machined from custom molds using American-made Kydex and fit-tested on the actual firearm before it ships. Not guesswork. Not generic molds. The Echelon platform, from its July 2023 launch through the 4.0C in 2025 to the PRO Comp in October 2026, has been in our mold library at every step.

Quickship options ship within 5 business days, so PRO Comp buyers do not wait weeks to carry their new pistol. Fully Custom Kydex options are available for non-standard configurations.

Our GEN6 design reflects continuous innovation across six generations. The Echelon PRO Comp is covered because we track platform evolution and update molds proactively. For All That You Hold Close: the Echelon PRO Comp is a serious investment in personal protection, and it deserves a holster built with equal seriousness.

Bottom Line: Your Echelon PRO Comp Is Already Covered

The compatibility verdict: all three Echelon PRO Comp variants (4.0C, 4.0FC, and 4.5F) fit existing C&G Holsters molded for the standard Echelon 4.0C and 4.5F. This is confirmed by shared COG geometry and real-world reviewer testing.

Two carry reminders:

  1. Open-bottom holster is mandatory for any compensated pistol. All C&G Echelon holsters are open-bottom by design.
  2. Consider removing the magwell for IWB/AIWB carry. It improves concealability and ensures clean holster seating.

Head to our GEN6 Springfield Armory Echelon collection to find your specific model, carry style, and light-bearing configuration.

The platform investment angle is real. A C&G holster purchased for the standard Echelon today means you are already covered if you upgrade to the PRO Comp tomorrow. The COG transfers; the holster stays.

C&G exists to serve carriers, law enforcement, veterans, and everyone who carries for the people and values they hold close. This guide is part of that mission. For All That You Hold Close.
