By Christopher Burns, Owner, C&G Holsters. We design and build Kydex holsters and carry gear in the USA, at our shop outside Pittsburgh, with a team of veterans and law enforcement. Last updated: October 25, 2026.
Short answer: The Springfield Echelon 4.0C and 4.5F each have their own C&G Kydex molds for IWB COVERT/ALPHA, OWB COVERT, MOD1 appendix, TRINITY and TRINITY LEVEL 2. Our light-bearing IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA and OWB TACTICAL holsters are cut for the TLR-1/HL/X, TLR-7/A/X and (OWB) X300U/T. Pick your model, pick how you carry, then choose Quickship or Custom.
We have been building Echelon holsters since the gun launched, and this page pulls everything into one place: what fits, what does not, and which holster we would put on our own belts. Shop the full lineup in our Springfield Echelon 4.0C collection, Springfield Echelon 4.5F collection and GEN6 Springfield Armory Echelon collection.
Key Takeaways
- The 4.0C and 4.5F use separate molds for our standard (non-light) holsters. Order the one that matches your slide.
- Light-bearing TLR-1/HL/X holsters are a shared 4.5F/4.0C fit in both IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA and OWB TACTICAL.
- TLR-7/A/X holsters are model-specific: separate 4.0C and 4.5F versions, IWB and OWB.
- X300U/T holsters are offered in OWB TACTICAL for the 4.5F/4.0C.
- Quickship ships within 5 business days. Custom ships within 15 and lets you pick colors and options.
Echelon 4.0C vs 4.5F: Holster Fit Table
The 4.0C is the compact: shorter slide and grip. The 4.5F is the full-size duty gun. Because the slide length is different, a holster molded for one is not the right fit for the other unless the product title says both. Here is what we build for each.
| C&G holster | Echelon 4.0C | Echelon 4.5F |
|---|---|---|
| IWB COVERT/ALPHA | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| OWB COVERT | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| MOD1 appendix sidecar | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| TRINITY | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| TRINITY LEVEL 2 | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| TLR-1/HL/X IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA | Shared 4.5F/4.0C fit: Quickship / Custom | |
| TLR-1/HL/X OWB TACTICAL | Shared 4.5F/4.0C fit: Quickship / Custom | |
| TLR-7/A/X IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| TLR-7/A/X OWB TACTICAL | Quickship / Custom | Quickship / Custom |
| X300U/T OWB TACTICAL | Shared 4.5F/4.0C fit: Quickship / Custom | |
If your exact combination is not in the table, we do not offer it as a listed product right now. Do not force a holster built for a different slide or light. Reach out and ask us before you order.
Which IWB Holster Should You Get for the Echelon: IWB COVERT or IWB ALPHA?
Our Echelon IWB holster is listed as IWB COVERT/ALPHA because it is the same precision-molded Kydex shell set up two ways. IWB COVERT is our slim, everyday inside-the-waistband holster for strong-side or appendix carry. IWB ALPHA adds features aimed at concealment, the kind that help tuck the grip so it prints less. Both are built off the same Echelon mold, so retention and fit are the same.
For most people carrying a 4.0C every day, IWB COVERT/ALPHA is where we would start. The 4.0C's shorter grip is easier to hide, and the holster keeps the slide and trigger guard fully covered. If you carry the 4.5F concealed, the same holster works. Just plan on a good gun belt and a cover garment that handles the longer slide.
What Are the Best Light-Bearing Echelon Holsters (TLR-7, TLR-1, X300U)?
If your Echelon wears a weapon light, the holster has to be molded around the gun and the light together. A standard holster will not close on a light. We build light-bearing Echelon holsters in two families:
- IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA: concealed carry with a light. Offered for the TLR-1/HL/X (shared 4.5F/4.0C) and the TLR-7/A/X (separate 4.0C and 4.5F versions).
- OWB TACTICAL: range, duty and open carry with a light. Offered for the TLR-1/HL/X and X300U/T (shared 4.5F/4.0C) and the TLR-7/A/X (separate 4.0C and 4.5F versions).
Our take shooter to shooter: the TLR-7 family is the easiest light to carry concealed on an Echelon. The TLR-1 and X300U are bigger, brighter, and better suited to a belt-worn OWB TACTICAL setup for home defense, duty or range work. Make sure the light model on your gun matches the product title exactly.
Do C&G Echelon Holsters Work With Optics and the Echelon PRO Comp?
The Echelon was designed as an optics-ready pistol, and plenty of our customers run a red dot on it. If you run an optic, a compensator or taller sights, tell us when you place a Custom order so we can make sure the build is right for your gun. Our Tall (Suppressor) Sights option is available for Custom holsters if you run taller sights to co-witness your dot.
The Echelon PRO Comp has its own considerations. We cover it in detail in our Springfield Echelon PRO Comp holster guide. Check that page before you order a holster for a PRO Comp.
When Should You Pick TRINITY or OWB TACTICAL for the Echelon?
TRINITY is our Kydex holster system for range, duty and field use, and TRINITY LEVEL 2 adds an extra level of retention for duty and open carry. Both are offered for the 4.0C and 4.5F. If the Echelon is your duty gun or your range gun, that is where we would look first.
OWB TACTICAL is the light-bearing outside-the-waistband option. If your Echelon wears a light for home defense or duty, OWB TACTICAL is what we build for it. For simple OWB carry without a light, OWB COVERT rides close to the body and works for open carry or under a jacket.
How Do You Carry an Echelon Appendix (AIWB) With MOD1?
MOD1 is our appendix sidecar system: the holster and a spare magazine carrier on one platform. It spreads the weight across your waistline and keeps a reload in the same spot every day. We offer MOD1 for both the Echelon 4.0C and the 4.5F. The 4.0C is the easier AIWB gun for most body types because of its shorter grip and slide.
QUICKSHIP vs CUSTOM: Which Echelon Holster Should You Order?
- Quickship ships within 5 business days. It is the fastest way to get a proven Echelon holster on your belt.
- Custom ships within 15 business days. You choose colors and options, including tall sights where offered.
If you need to start carrying now, go Quickship. If you want it set up your way, go Custom.

FAQ
What holster fits the Springfield Echelon 4.0C?
C&G builds Echelon 4.0C molds in IWB COVERT/ALPHA, OWB COVERT, MOD1 appendix, TRINITY and TRINITY LEVEL 2, plus light-bearing IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA and OWB TACTICAL for the TLR-7/A/X, TLR-1/HL/X and (OWB) X300U/T.
Will a 4.5F Echelon holster fit the 4.0C?
Not for our standard holsters. The 4.0C and 4.5F have separate molds. Only products titled for both, like our TLR-1/HL/X and X300U/T light-bearing holsters, are a shared fit.
Do you make a light-bearing Echelon holster?
Yes. IWB TACTICAL/ALPHA for the TLR-1/HL/X and TLR-7/A/X, and OWB TACTICAL for the TLR-1/HL/X, TLR-7/A/X and X300U/T.
Can I carry the Echelon appendix?
Yes. Our IWB COVERT/ALPHA works for AIWB, and the MOD1 appendix sidecar system is offered for both the 4.0C and the 4.5F.
Do your Echelon holsters work with a red dot?
The Echelon is optics-ready and many customers run dots. If you run an optic, compensator or tall sights, note it on a Custom order and ask us before you buy if you are unsure.
How fast do Echelon holsters ship?
Quickship holsters ship within 5 business days. Custom holsters ship within 15 business days.
